The final event of the Rip Curl GromSearch series takes place at Seal Point after four events during the year at various breaks along the South African coastline this year.

The right-hand point break in Cape St Francis is the popular venue for this tournament, which is a full three days of surfing with maximum entries. The competition runs from Friday, September 20, to Sunday, September 22.

The Venue, Seal Point

One of the premier right-hand point breaks in the Eastern Cape, Seal Point has been home to many Rip Curl GromSearch finals and other national events over the years. The break is maintained by the Seal Point Boardriders Club, an active organisation that holds numerous club contests and functions throughout the year. It is a high-performance wave, a perfect canvas for the best junior surfers in the country to strut their stuff. The forecast for great waves over the contest weekend at this early stage looks promising.

Rip Curl GromSearch Global Finals

The U16 Division is the Premier Division for this series, and the U16 Boys and Girls winners will also win an entry into the Rip Curl GromSearch Global Finals, which will be held in Indonesia in November. Ratings are taken on the best four out of five event results.

In addition to these entry slots, they will win R20k travel vouchers to attend this event as part of a sponsorship partnership with Rip Curl, Zigzag Magazine, Royal St Andrews Hotel and Sea Harvest.

Zigzag Magazine
