Legends Launch at Tand Event

You're invited to the highly anticipated launch event for this year's Eagle Lighting @tandinvitational 2024, the premier bodyboarding event that focuses on one of the core criteria of bodyboarding, big moves and big tubes over a bone-crunching slab. A showcase of the natural beauty of the West Coast and the perfect advert for an alternative South African adventure.
Known around the world as Tand, this slabfest has pitted the best South Africa has to offer against one another since 2011, and now for the first time in the event's history, the door has been opened to the international community to compete for the title of King of Tand.
The charts are saying batten down the hatches and prepare for the full fury of Mother Nature as another brutal cold front barrels down on the South African coast. So pull in and chill out, literally, on Wednesday, July 10th, from 6 pm at Jack Black's Taproom in Diep River.
This is your chance to be part of a cool evening where you can meet the riders who have accepted the challenge, grab some autographs, be part of the live heat draw hosted by Jack Parow, and learn from one of the greatest watermen in the world, the legend known as Mike Stewart, who will be hosting a guest lecture on the subtle art of wave riding.
Mike Stewart is a name synonymous with the sport of bodyboarding. Born on May 3, 1963,in Kailua, Hawaii, Mike has become one of the most influential and respected figures in the world of wave riding. With a career spanning over four decades, he is widely regarded as a pioneer and innovator in the sport.
Mike Stewart's legacy is built on his extraordinary achievements, innovative spirit, and unwavering dedication to bodyboarding. His impact on the sport is immeasurable, and he continues to inspire and influence wave riders around the world. Whether carving through a perfect barrel or pushing the limits in big wave conditions, Mike Stewart remains the embodiment of excellence in bodyboarding.
