The grassroots movement kicked off ahead of the Boost Mobile Pro Gold Coast in 2019 and has grown from strength to strength. As Deputy Commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer says: "This is a big deal for women's surfing and for the community," said . "Because we've never had things like this for us. We want to be able to break down the barriers that women and young girls have in the lineup."
It's no secret that surfing can be an intimidating sport - especially in popular lineups. This initiative aims to connect young athletes with current CT competitors so that female surfers of all ages and skill levels are emboldened to surf in good waves so that we have more balanced lineups and everyone can enjoy the inspirational power of surfing.
