Saturday 23 July 2022 Both days of the second event of the Rip Curl GromSearch, which takes place at Seal Point this weekend, will be streamed live by SuperSport Schools on their portal.

There will also be live scoring on the Live Heats portal. The premier SAST surfing tournament, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per premier events, is a Surfing South Africa contest, presented by Sea Harvest and supported by the Cape St Francis Resort. It is the second competition in the 3-part GromSearch 2022 series.
The Rip Curl GromSearch is supported by the Cape St Francis Resort. Numerous accommodation options are available with discounted rates for surfers and their families. For details, phone Anita at the Resort on 082 494 3755 or 042 298 0054, or email anita@capestfrancisresort.co.za

There was live music on Friday night at Joe Fish Restaurant at the Cape St Francis Resort and blackboard specials for surfers and their families on Friday and Saturday night at the restaurant, including free boerewors rolls for the surfers on Saturday night.
The Rip Curl GromSearch has the top junior surfers in the country competing, and there will be boy’s and girl’s divisions, from U12 to U18. Several division winners from the first GromSearch event held earlier this year will be hoping to get a second win. Local surfer Rory Dace will be all out to get a second win in the competitive U14 Boys division. Rip Curl athlete Joel Fowles will be looking for a repeat win in the U16 Boys division. Current World Surf League Championship Tour 14-ranked surfer Matt McGillivray from JBay will also be popping in to hang out with the groms.
The Rip Curl GromSearch series allows kids to compete against the best surfers in the same age bracket from their country. This format provides these groms with an insight into a life of competitive surfing and gives them the invaluable experience of surfing and competing in different waves around the country.
The GromSearch 2022 consists of three Premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per premier events.
The Friends of the St Francis Nature Areas – FOSTER – will be having a beach clean-up today, should any of the surfers wish to get involved. More details on the beach clean-up here.
